Joel Sanga, a blind person, toured and experienced the Ngorongoro Conservation Area through Ears. Also climbed the Mount Kilimanjaro

– October 2024

I am Joel Hamis Sanga, a tourist at Ngorongoro National Park in 2024 and a mountain climber who scaled Mount Kilimanjaro in 2024. My experience in tourism in 2024 at Ngorongoro National Park was guided by Action for Persons with Disability, who led a group of 40 persons with disabilities in learning about tourism and enjoying one of the Seven Wonders of the World found in Ngorongoro National Park. As visually impaired individuals, we gained a new experience regarding the history, the social system within the park, and the changes in weather conditions in the area.

Lastly, as people with disabilities, we learned about and imagined the Big Five animals.

Although I am a visually impaired person, I managed to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in 2024, celebrating 63 years of Tanganyika’s independence. As a visually impaired person, I received sufficient support from Action for Persons with Disability (APD). I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu, Mandara, Horombo, Kibo routes, and finally reached the summit at Gilman’s Point.

As a visually impaired individual, I enjoyed a tactile tour by touching the Kilimanjaro glaciers, different rocks on the mountain, witnessing beautiful waterfalls, observing the rapid climate changes as I ascended, seeing part of the Urupern Desert, and meeting various tourists from different countries around the world.

For 2025, Action for Persons with Disability has organized a tourism program for people with disabilities, considering all groups including the visually impaired, deaf, physically disabled, albinos, and those with dwarfism.

We invite relatives, friends, and family from all corners of the world to tour alongside people with disabilities to gain new experiences.

With heartfelt gratitude, we commend Action for Persons with Disability for their continued commitment to organizing tourism programs for people with disabilities.

Welcome to tour the heritage of our homeland. Thank you.
