<h3>Safaris and Initiative towards Paralympics Games in Los Angeles 2028

At least 50 Children and Youth with Disabilities have developed personalities to the fullest and participate into the Olympic-level competition in Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic through sports and games programs.

APD partners with TopAfrica.com to initiate a project, “Safaris and Initiative towards Paralympic Games Los Angeles 2028”. This project is initially designed to adapt local reality, by including children and young persons with disabilities. Finally, APD together with its partners will enhance sports and games up to international levels.

  • APD and TopAfrica.com extend networking with supporters – individuals, institutions, NGOs, Foundations, FBOs, Companies from within and outside Tanzania and the UK for implementing the Project.

  • APD and TopAfrica.com together with other partners and stakeholders promote all forms of sports activities for people with disabilities (PWD), through the provision of adequate facilities and proper organization of the activities.

  • APD and TopAfrica.com organize safaris for supporters, whenever possible together with PWD to tour attractive sites, national parks and game reserves in Tanzania and East African.

The following categories of sports are addressed by the project so as to accommodate all disabilities:

  • Mainstream Sport: Children and Youth with disabilities participate alongside athletes who do not necessarily have a disability.

  • Disability-specific sport: Children and Youth with disabilities participate alongside others with similar disabilities.

  • Adaptive sport: Adapting sports so as to include those with disabilities. In addition to disability-specific sport, it includes designed sports so as to enable those with and without disabilities to participate. (For example, sitting volleyball teams, include athletes with disabilities and those without, because it is adapted to accommodate both).

The Project is organized in three (3) phases of implementation as introduction phase, preparatory phase, and competition phase.

During introduction Phase, we do awareness Creation about sports: Media coverage of sport events involving PWD plays a major role in creating more positive and accurate perceptions. (For example, the growing profile of the Paralympics, significantly contribute to increasing recognition of PWD. Over a million people watching television coverage of the 2020 Tokyo and 2022 Beijing as well as 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, are significantly increase awareness of the capabilities of PWD).
